In Uzbekistan, you need registration in every town where you stay overnight at a local police station, basically. It's like permission. Usually the hotel in which you stay does the job instead of you, and they give you a small piece of paper as proof when you check out. You may have a trouble when you get out of the country if you don't have those, which means a fine or a bribe.
Some say they didn't have such check at all when they came out. Some say some checkpoints were very strict, or asked for a bribe with spending hours. Some say it's OK to have no-registration days uptill 3 days. Some say cyclists can have more. Nothing is certain in central asian countries. I'd better get prepared for the worst case, if I could.
"Ask for more times of registration in the next hotel which you stay if you have some days missing." That's what a guidebook suggests. Hm.
The greeting manner of the street has been relatively mild in the southern area. Probably because there aren't so many tourists coming. I haven't experienced insults yet. There are still a number of times of cheating in shopping. But I like people's friendly attitude. I feel relaxed, so far.
I enjoyed hot shower after 4 days in a hotel. I'll arrive in Samarkand tomorrow.
