The land in China is vast. But it's not always easy to find a camping site at the end of a day conveniently.
The route 110 that I'm going runs in villages and cities. In the area of a village, almost everywhere is cutivated. And there are people everywhere, in a field, in a patch, in a bush, etc. A few in each spot but just everywhere. It's difficult avoid someone's eyes.
Chinese farmers work all day, from the dawn till it gets dark, which means now from 5 to 8. I avoid camping near a village, unless I had no other choice in the darkness. There is no light on roads. Moonlight is the only help to find a "safer" place. And I have to be careful with dogs. They smell me out in some hundred kilometers easily, and never stop barking once they started. I had to move the camping site twice because of them.
It's my lucky day when I find a good camping site at the end of a day. Once I found a really nice deserted area, with gaps of land where I could hide. I was happy that I could get up late next morning. I got up early as usual after all, but was relaxed, doing streching or arranging stuffs. It was just when I got ready to go, I hard somebody voice nearby, and somebody suddenly appeared on top of the gap. It was a shepherd and sheep. I was surprised. So was he, I suppose, but he didn't say anything to me. I said hi and left casually.
Lucky it wasn't when I was in "toilet".
