West wind began to blow in every afternoon. (I'd heard from other tourists that wind changes the direction frequently in the valley. Was there really such time?) It blew up the white fine sand on the river side or on the dirt, and struck me on everywhere. Sand came in my mouth, in my eyes. In my lung too, I'm afraid. Even when the sand was not blown, the wind was still strong enough to slow me down.

The autumn view on the way was beautiful. I washed my dirty clothes in a creek yesterday. I'd been wearing the same clothes for a week. While drying up them on branches of trees, I had a nap under warm sunshine. Exhaustion had been piling up in me. It wasn't washed up even after the nap.

Tajik people were mostly calm and gentle, and really kind. They are famous for their hospitality. In fact I got so many invitations of tea or food on the way. But I didn't accept any of them. I was sorry for that. Mostly because of my not speaking Russian. And I had been unable to gain as much distance as I wanted since I came to the valley. It was less than 50km a day for two days. I was so disappointed when I looked at the cycle meter.
Some kids still annoyed me. Few teenagers (older?) threw me an apple, or blocked my way to make fun. Only few times, but those people made me feel more tired than nature. I longed for a long rest, alone.
