19 Apr 2009, from Sanaa to Djibouti-city by airplane, 17034km

I hurried to Sanaa International Airport in the early morning. Some men were sitting on the street aimlessly already. Good-bye Yemen, I said in my mind.
The flight ticket was $170. Plus I had to pay $40 at the airport for exceeding the limited baggage weight (30kg) by 15kg. Somehow I couldn't be simply obedient with Yemeni officials, but had no other choice. It ended up expensive one-hour flight. (I could have flown from Iran to India with that money.)
Red Sea below was calm and beautiful. I saw a boat cruising on the clear blue with a white wake. Alone and nothing around. It looked peaceful.

Djibouti-city was hot, humid, looked rather like a rural town with no high buildings, yet colorful to my eyes after Sanaa in clayish colors. Here and there were painted in yellow, red, green, etc. often with cute handwriting pictures. Women were even more colorful. They were muslims, but put on clothes in many colors. No one was in black. Hardly any hid their faces. Some even didn't ware scarfs. They worked on street or in shops. It was after long time for me to talk to a woman, or saw their smiles.
Accomodation was expensive. $34 was the cheapest among the four hotels I found. I had to move on hurriedly the next day.
