I stayed in Gyeoungju for two days. The Korean style guest house charged only 20000 won a night for a single room, the cheapest since I came to Korea, yet it was good enough for me. It was much better than my last apartment in Tokyo.
The grandfather of the inn spoke very good Japanese. I first wondered if he was a Japanese guest. And he wondered if I was a monk because of my shaved head.
I was asked some times in Korea if I was a monk. I don't think that's why Korean people are kind to me. Yet it makes me feel a bit awkward to go to a barbecue restaurant.
I'm cycling up north along the east coast now. The area around Yeongdeok must be famous for crabs. There were many shops with big signs of crab or restaurants with big fish tanks outside, in where there are lots of crabs alive, and other fishes. My sister would love to come.
I wish I could try as well. But I'm on tight buget. And a monk shouldn't eat such.
