13 Feb 2009, Dubai-Hatta(UAE)-Oman, 14231km

Everywhere turned sandy as I was leaving the center of Dubai. It was a windy day. Floated fine sand streamed on the surface of the road, like sand-snakes.
Small towns were dotted in the desert on the way. There were some facilities where you could enjoy 4WD drive in sand.
The distance to the border to Oman was only 140km~150km from Dubai. Or maybe less. I was not counting.

There were queues in the building where they issued visa in Oman side. Most of the people seemed to be UAE residents, as they had a pink paper of re-entry permit in their hands. Soon after they got the visa, they drove back to UAE. I was one of a few there who actually entered Oman.
Some drivers waved to me, or gave me welcome honks. The atmosphere slightly changed.

Oman was another wealthy country. I could easily find ATM or shopping centers. I saw more greens and flowers along the road than in UAE.
Houses along the highway were huge! often with a big yard or farms around. I was about to camp in such place once by mistake.
I saw more people in ethnic clothes. Arabs or Bedwins. Their attitude was mild and friendly.
There were many foreign workers as well. My days in Indian restaurants still continued.
